These Were the Top 20 Most Popular PlayStation Store Games of 2015

During the past year digital software sales on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo were higher than any year before. More consumers than ever are turning to the convenience of being able to pre-order and play games without relying on physical media, and it's impacting the industry in a major way.

So, more interesting than ever is the top list of most downloaded titles on the PlayStation Store.

In 2015, 20 games achieved remarkable sales in North America's PlayStation Store. Some were obvious, but a few might surprise you. They were the following:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 led the pack with a massive surge of popularity on PlayStation thanks to a marketing deal between Activision and Sony, in addition to a transition from eSport play on Xbox to PlayStation. It's given the PS4 a leg-up on the competition with what has remained one of the best-selling franchises in in the industry.

A few of the top-selling games are among the most popular of the past decade, including Grand Theft Auto V, Minecraft, Destiny, and Star Wars: Battlefront. Meanwhile, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Dying Light, and Rocket League come as surprising entries on the list.
