UK Sales Data Shows Titanfall 2 Performing Much Worse Than Titanfall

We've talked about it on numerous occasions, and now we have the numbers. Titanfall 2 is selling poorly despite remarkable reception from critics and users alike. It has gamers as well as analysts talking, and could become one of the main headlines of this season.

UK sales figures have been published and they show Titanfall 2 at around 52,000 units sold across all platforms during its initial days on the market, including pre-orders sold-through. Here is how that figure compares to Titanfall's debut in 2014.

PC Sales:

  • Titanfall – 28,000
  • Titanfall 2 – 1,000

Xbox One Sales:

  • Titanfall – 118,000
  • Titanfall 2 – 30,000

These figures support the forecasts by industry analysts that predicted Titanfall 2 will severely underperform, falling short of its nine million sales prediction. This would explain why EA made the move last week to announce that all Titanfall 2 copies will be supported by free DLC throughout their lifespan, a move unequaled by either Battlefield 1 or Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

The reasons for Titanfall 2 selling poorly during its first week, and potentially its lifetime, serve as a harsh example that sometimes making a great game isn't enough to be financially successful. Some have blamed its release date for its initial struggles, although a small marketing campaign and lack of promotion haven't helped.

These figures only state UK numbers, although many anecdotes are in-line with what's represented.
