Finals Of The Overwatch Winter Premiere Will Be Live At PAX South

Twitch.tv and Next Generation eSports (NGE) are partnering to bring the finals of the $100,000 Overwatch Winter Premiere live to PAX South, NGE announced today.

The Winter Premiere tournament has been going on since Jan. 3 and is now in the round of six to see which four Overwatch teams will advance to the grand finals. Those teams will then play in LAN format, live at the PAX Arena in San Antonio, TX.

The LAN format will be a welcome relief for several teams playing over the internet across the world, as many players have dropped mid game or experienced high ping, and one match even crashed completely.

The Winter Premiere finals will take place over the first two days of PAX South, starting on Jan. 27 and concluding on Jan. 28.

More than 500 Overwatch teams played through the qualifiers for this tournament, the prize pool of which matches the largest ever for an Overwatch tournament, and that number is sure to grow over the course of the year.

Now down to just six teams battling for a chance at a slice of the $100,000, the Overwatch NGE Winter Premiere will go live again today and tomorrow on Twitch.tv/Overwatch_NGE.
