Rumor: Next Xbox Not As Physically Gifted As You’d Hope

What if I told you that Microsoft's next console will be six times more powerful than the Xbox 360? Don't be, because six times the power of an Xbox 360 is nothing to brag about in 2012.

A report by IGN claims that several sources have confirmed the existence of a new Xbox console, and the hardware is said to be six times more powerful than the Xbox 360. Also, the report claims that the graphics processing unit (GPU) included will be similar to the 6670, a card that is usually sold to college students looking for something to play Farmville.

These figures probably made you start trembling in excitement at first — and I apologize if I made you scream so loud you woke your neighbors up — but if you directly measure an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3's power to modern hardware, you'd find that there's a signficant gap in the realm of 1000% to 1100%. That's not good news for people looking to play games as visually demanding as Metro 2033 at the equivalent of a PC's high settings, but parents everywhere will be happy to save a few bucks.

The next Xbox is certainly looming in the shadows, and we're expecting an announcement at E3 this year. Stay tuned to find out what Microsoft have up their sleeves.
