PlayStation Network Goes Bye-Bye, Say Hello To SEN

Well, this is strange.

The PlayStation Network will be no more. The free-to-play online platform that launched with the PlayStation 3 will soon be called Sony Entertainment Network.

Chances are, you've already received an email from Sony detailing the change. Your account will stay exactly the same, as will all of your games, and pretty much everything else. It's really just a change in name only, as Sony looks to align all of its networked products under a more singular service.

The new SEN will be applied to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, but the PSP won't get the rebranding… at least not yet. Poor PSP, it couldn't be any more clear that its days are numbered.

You can enjoy the PSN name for just two more days. After that, you better get used to SEN, which doesn't roll off the tongue as easily, and sounds more like an acronym for something the government uses to track your every move.

[Update] Sony has confirmed to us that the original PlayStation Network logo will remain, and will NOT be replaced with the SEN logo, as we initially reported. The change, again, is in name only.
