PlayStation’s ‘Playerbase’ Program Lets Players Step Inside the Game

Sony PlayStation has unveiled its new program, The Playerbase, which allows gamers to be part of the console’s games. Currently in its early phase, the program will select one lucky player to be featured in an upcoming title.

PlayStation players can now be part of the game with Playerbase

On Tuesday, April 7, Sony PlayStation revealed The Playerbase, a new community-based program that went into effect immediately.

According to the press release, the program allows PlayStation players to appear in-game by scanning their likenesses. However, the journey to that stage is not easy, plus the program currently has plans for only one game, Gran Turismo 7. Nonetheless, the company has assured that more titles will be added in the future.

To take part in this community program, players can submit their applications on the official website here. Unfortunately, it is currently available in limited locations across the Americas, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia.

The press release notes that players will go through an interview, during which they will be asked certain questions and asked to explain their experience with PlayStation. Needless to say, players must have a valid PlayStation account ID, which will allow the company to obtain additional details.

At the end of the program, PlayStation will finalize only one participant. Subsequently, the selected fan will be invited to the Los Angeles studio. There, they will be scanned to have a limited-time appearance in Gran Turismo 7. Furthermore, the fan will also collaborate with designers to create a custom Fantasy Logo and a unique vehicle livery. The final product will be permanently added to the game’s Showcase menu.

PlayStation said that this is a way of giving back to its players for being part of the community for decades. It also assured that it will add more games to the program, while customizing how the fan is incorporated based on those games’ style.
