Blizzard Hiring For Over Two Dozen Positions

Blizzard Entertainment has arguably one of the most talented development teams in the world, so when they're hiring a lot of people, you know something good is in the oven.

Ripten pointed out that Blizzard is currently on a hiring spree with 26 available positions posted on Gamasutra. That's twice as many jobs as the second current highest recruitment number, which goes to Ready At Dawn Studios. A couple of the positions are clearly to aid in finishing the production of currently announced titles, specifically the console version of Diablo III that is mentioned in two entries. However, it's clear that with so many positions available, they're working on something huge, which just might be the Project Titan that everyone has been itching for.

Project Titan could arguably be the next big thing in online gaming. World of Warcraft has been a monumental success but is over seven-years old now, and its gray hairs are starting to show. Project Titan was officially confirmed last year as a game in development with some of Blizzard's most experienced MMO developers behind it. More importantly, this time around Blizzard won't be new to the genre. World of Warcraft was their first MMO and as a result there were a few issues with it at launch to say the least. Now that they're veterans in the game who have learned what works and fails, it's almost scary to think of how good it could be.

Another thing I couldn't help but notice is that Blizzard now has a few console developers on its team. I'm confident that they'll see a strong return with Diablo III being available on more than one platform, and it begs the question: Will Blizzard continue to release games on consoles? I think they will, and while StarCraft may never fit well onto the console experience, Project Titan might. With no Blizzcon this year it's not likely that we'll hear more about the game, but there's always a chance that it'll appear at E3.
