Hideo Kojima Reveals His Favorite Metal Gear Bosses

Hideo Kojima is a legend in the gaming industry for his Metal Gear series which has won many accolades for its strong use of stealth gameplay, memorable characters, and game flow that keeps you on the edge of your seat. However, one thing that isn't mentioned often is how many memorable bosses have made their way into the series over the years. There are quite a few of them, over 100 in-fact, but which would the master himself consider the best?

Believe it or not, Hideo Kojima's favorite boss in the entire Metal Gear series is Running Man, an expert in explosives who appeared in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake back in 1990. The boss battle consisted of Running Man trapping Snake in an area filled with gas while he ran around to avoid being tackled by Snake. The enocunter was considered intense in its day since Snake could only live about 45 seconds before he'd die, and you had to figure out that laying down mines were your only way of bringing Running Man down.

Kojima also noted that Sniper Wolf and Cyborg Ninja from Metal Gear Solid were his runner-ups. He was pleased with how his team was able to take advantage of the 3D graphics, which were new at the time, for the Sniper Wolf battle. On the other hand he thinks Cyborg Ninja was an extremely cool character with a boss encounter that is as unique as any. Heck, he was so cool that he made Otacon pee his pants. Well then again lots of things make Otacon pee his pants.

While I can't agree with Running Man being one of the best battles, both Sniper Wolf and Cyborg are some of the most noteworthy in any franchise, and they just so happen to be in the same game. So Metal Gear is full of compelling boss fights ranging in difficulty and strategy required, and there's no doubt about it, but what is your personal favorite?
