3DS Crossover Game Officially Titled Project X Zone

News regarding the name of the 3DS's three-way crossover project has finally surfaced, and no, it's not called "Namco X Capcom X Sega". Earlier today, producer Kensuke Tsukanaka revealed to Famitsu that the game will be called Project X Zone. Considering the terrible track record most Japanese developers have for coming up with game titles, we're giving them an 'A' for effort.

According to Tsukanaka, the reason they went with Project X Zone had a lot to do with the fact that the team wanted to be sure gamers wouldn't confuse this as being a sequel to Namco X Capcom, a crossover title that appeared on the PS2. As far as what we can expect in terms of gameplay, the producer confirmed that the title will be a strategy RPG centered around paired character battles that feature classic faces from each publisher's large cast.

Right now, the game has only been confirmed for release later this year in Japan.
