Mass Effect Is Getting Japanimated

Can't get enough of poor lip-synchs, twitching eyebrows, everything being really, really shiny and space operas? Well then do I have some super good news for you today. EA and Funimation are teaming up to bring the exploits of Shepard and his crew to the world of Anime in a new Mass Effect animated series. Anyone who's ever seen an episode of Robotech knows why this makes absolute perfect sense.

Production has already begun on what is sure to be the most epic animated series since The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog and we can look forward to a Summer 2012 release for home video. Executive producer for Mass Effect, Casey Hudson had some words of titillation about the new endeavor:

"Over the last few years, we have revealed different pieces of the Mass Effect world through different media. Extending the story through an anime medium is another amazing opportunity for us…Partnering with FUNimation ensures that we will bring this rich universe to life with the utmost quality and the same attention to detail that the Mass Effect games are known for.”

I will admit, this does have the potential to be cool, but I may hold out until there's a tentacle rape derivative work based off it, because that shit's just way more fun to watch.
