BioWare Reveals Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar, Coming This Year

Remember Ultima Online? You know, the first MMORPG to achieve 100,000 total subscribers. Yeah, that one. It was a pretty darn good game and anyone who played it during its prime has some nostalgia for it. That's exactly why a new game in the series has been announced today.

BioWare has revealed that they are creating a game called Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar. As you might suspect, it's part of the Ultima universe and as such features fantasy with magic, virtues, feudal lords, and more. However, it isn't an MMO like Ultima Online. Instead, it focuses on the singleplayer experience with a multiplayer component on the side.

Now here's the kicker: Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar is slated to release later this year for PC and iPad. In other words, if you were expecting a hardcore experience like Ultima Online you might want to shelve those expectations. This is very likely a little kickback for the fans, but nothing more.
