Meet Bill In The Latest Trailer For The Last of Us

While this latest trailer for The Last of Us highlights a brand-new character, the smart-mouthed firecracker of a child that is Ellie steals the show… yet again. It's amazing how Naughty Dog has managed to perfectly convey the engrossing relationship between her and Joel in just under three minutes of video time, not to mention the fact that they manage to introduce a completely new character in that time span as well.

Bill, who is clearly an old friend of Joel's, appears to be in the protagonist's debut for something that happened in the past. If an effort to wipe his slate clean, he reluctantly agrees to help Joel put together a car, but not until after he handcuffs Ellie to a pole and checks Joel at gunpoint for any sign of infection. The "trust no one" sentiment is beautifully illustrated in this moment and comes to a climax when Ellie breaks free and proceeds to beat the man with the pole.

That Ellie is one tough cookie, and she's got some pretty amusing one-liners to boot. Ah, this game can't come soon enough.
