Monster Hunter World has remained on top of the sales charts for a second week in a row, according to the most recent Media Create sales figures, while the PS4 is having a great year so far as it remains the front-runner in both the hardware and software sales charts.
After moving 1,245,169 units in its debut last week, Monster Hunter World for the PS4 continues its winning streak by selling 346,187 units this week, bringing the total lifetime sales to a whopping 1,591,356 units, including Limited and Bundle Editions. It managed to remain on top of the software sales chart for the second consecutive week.
Dragon Ball FighterZ for the PS4 leaps comfortably into second place in the software sales chart in its debut week with 68,731 units sold. The rest of the software sales chart is dominated by Nintendo Switch games such as Splatoon 2, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey and more. Other games that broke into the top twenty include Dissidia Final Fantasy NT and Call of Duty WW2 for the PS4 as well as a few 3DS games like Pokemon Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon and Mario Party: The Top 100. No Xbox game managed to break into the top twenty of the software sales chart.
A notable mention would be the debut of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the Nintendo Switch, which opened with 13,922 units sold, allowing it to grab the seventh spot on the software sales chart. This is an impressive feat considering that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a port of a seven-year-old game.
On the hardware sales chart, the PS4 remained on top for the fourth consecutive week with 109,287 units sold. The Nintendo Switch trailed behind with 49,165 units sold, followed by the PS4 Pro with 23,113 units sold. The entire 3DS family of handhelds consisting of New 2DS LL, New 3DS LL, and the 2DS, managed to sell a total of 11,461 units. The Xbox One family had the worst sales with only 565 and 72 units sold for the Xbox One X and Xbox One respectively.
