Kingdom Hearts 3 Shows Off its Monsters, Inc. World in New Trailer

Kingdom Hearts 3‘s Monsters Inc world has been revealed in a brand new trailer for the game, showing Sora, Goofy, and Donald fighting alongside Mike, Sully, and Boo for the very first time.

In the trailer, Sora & co. transform into monsters themselves, before teaming up with Mike and Sully in a battle through their malevolent employers’ industrial setting. Sora will have access to Monsters Inc-themed weaponry and abilities, as he takes on swarms of beastly enemies.

Monsters Inc joins Toy Story in Kingdom Hearts 3‘s line-up of Pixar worlds, with more of the game’s Toy Story world also being highlighted in this trailer. Ariel from the Little Mermaid also makes an appearance.

The trailer was shown at the D23 Expo Japan, with Square Enix still slating the game for a 2018 release. However, no official release date has been confirmed by its publisher.

Square also used the conference to discuss other elements of Kingdom Hearts 3. According to the publisher, the game’s Gummi Ship sections will now be split into two distinct open-world phases; exploration and battle. Rapunzel was also shown as a new party character, while the game will also receive a new theme song called ‘Don’t Think Twice,’ created by Hikaru Utada.
