First Two Turok Games Getting HD Xbox One Releases

Fans of shooting dinosaurs into extinction, rejoice! The first two Turok games – Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and the wonderfully titled Turok 2: Seeds of Evil – are coming to Xbox One this week, complete with a HD makeover.

While Turok 1 and its sequel have already seen the HD light of day on PC, this marks the first time the series has been on consoles since the eponymous 2008 reboot, Turok. Each game will set you back $20 each and will be available to buy from March 2.

Nightdive Studios were the ones charged with bringing the run-and-gun dino destruction into the 21st Century and, while the game still looks a little rough round the edges (that’s the N64, for you), it still appears to retain all of its sense of OTT Jurassic ass-kicking.

The games, which see you battle everything from 30-foot bugs to a cyborg T-Rex is very much of its time but, in a post-Doom world, more and more people will be eager to lap this up. I mean, just look at the trailer! Inside a minute, a set of 20-year-old games manages to set the pulse racing with barely anything more than some prehistoric polygons and several increasingly-large weapons. I’ve always thought there was a gap in the market for trying to kill a Stegosaurus with a minigun.

If you don’t want to go it alone, Turok 2 comes packed with its online multiplayer mode, featuring Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch (stylised as Team Blood and Blood Lust respectively) and the monkey madness of Frag Tag. If you’ve been itching to pit a harpoon-gun wielding raptor against a couple of guys with crossbows just to see who would win, now’s your chance.
