Halo 4 Information Overload, New Campaign And Multiplayer Details Abound

A barrage of Halo 4 content has hit the web today, covering not only new additions to the game's multiplayer, but also an early look at a few levels of the game's single-player campaign. But before we get into any of that, please direct your attention to the video above, the latest teaser for the Halo 4's video series Forward Unto Dawn, courtesy of Machinima.

Alright, now that that's out of the way, let's dive into what is new on the multiplayer front. 343i has announced that Halo 4 will have a new multiplayer mode dubbed Dominion. In this mode, two teams will square off in a fight for territories. If one team manages to capture all three locations, a "sudden death" countdown timer starts, requiring the losing team to reclaim a capture point before their team is wiped out. The Verge likens it to Battlefield 3's Conquest mode.

As far as the campaign goes, 343i revealed information on the game's first and third missions, titled "Dawn" and "Forerunner", respectively. Without going into too many SPOILERY specifics, IGN explains that the game starts off with Cortana waking the Chief because the ship they are on is in peril. In the third mission, you make contact with the UNSC Infinity, which has picked up your signal and is trying to rescue you. Of course the planet you are on – known as Requiem – is hardly a safe place, loaded with Promethian Knights and all sorts of danger. As such, it's once again up to Spartan 117 to save the day.

Developer 343 Industries also commented on the title's main antagonist, which they've previously teased as being "an ancient evil." They've since confirmed to GameTrailers that Halo 4's villain is in fact the infamous Forerunner military leader, the Didact. Halo 4 is set to launch on November 6th, and I'm giddy like a little schoolgirl in anticipation of its release.
