Sea of Thieves Live Action Trailer Features Sean Astin

Over on the official Xbox YouTube channel, a Sea of Thieves live action trailer has been published. Less than a day before the game’s March 20 release, it seems Microsoft is revealing a secret weapon, which will help send hype levels skyrocketing, translating into high day one sales. What is the weapon I speak of? Why, it’s Sean Astin, of course!

Sean Astin recently won the hearts of many with his performance in the second season of Stranger Things. Prior to that, most folks knew Astin as Samwise Gamgee, the bestest-ever best friend in The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.

The Sea of Thieves live action trailer has Astin play a museum creator. That may sound boring on the surface, but he’s in charge of the “Museum of More Pirate,” a fictional stronghold which houses the history and artifacts of the “most legendary legends to ever unfurl on the open sea.”

The mythical kraken also makes an appearance. This is the beast that many players were trying to hunt down during the game’s beta. Unfortunately, that search ended in vain, for the kraken hadn’t yet been added to playable servers. Thankfully, players will be able to fight the kraken in the launch build!

Enough chatter! Click “Play” on the video below to watch the Sea of Thieves live action trailer for yourself:

Sea of Thieves is set to launch tomorrow, March 20. It will be available on both PC and Xbox One, with cross-platform play enabled. It also makes use of Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing users to switch between console and PC without buying an additional copy.
