LEGO The Incredibles Release Date Announced for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC

Warner Bros Interactive and Disney have officially announced LEGO The Incredibles for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game will be developed by Traveller’s Tales or TT Games, a studio which has worked on almost every LEGO game since LEGOStar Wars back in 2005.

LEGO The Incredibles will be released on June 15th, 2018. It’s interesting to note that this date will coincide with the release of Disney Pixar’s highly anticipated sequel The Incredibles 2 in cinemas. Players will be able to relive their favorite scenes from both the original The Incredibles animated movie and its upcoming sequel.

Similar to recent LEGO games like LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2, LEGO The Incredibles will feature an open-world hub, which will include locations faithfully adapted from the films like Municiberg and Nomanisan Island. Speaking to IGN, TT Games executive producer Nick Ricks said that the developers are incorporating new gameplay elements alongside the usual blend of platforming and puzzle solving.

Ricks explains that there will be “crime bosses” scattered throughout the open-world hub, where players will have to fight crime as they unlock more sections of the hub. In addition to the campaign which will be adapted from both movies, TT Games worked with Disney Pixar to include original side quests and missions in the game.

Ricks said: “So there will be places off the beaten track, things you’ll need extra Supers with different powers than the family members to gain access to. That’s when we can… yeah, we can have a little more fun.” It sounds like the game will be less linear than previous LEGO games.

Additionally, the main beat ’em up combat gameplay will emphasize on combining the powers of the characters to “perform special attacks and complete LEGO builds.” A huge cast of characters will be in LEGO The Incredibles, where players can even play as some of the Supers only seen or mentioned briefly in the source material. Confirmed Supers include Gazerbeam and Stormicide.

Ricks also teased that there will be certain easter eggs in LEGO The Incredibles, which refer to other movies in the commonly-theorized shared Pixar animated movie universe. He had this to say on the subject: “The game is first and foremost LEGO Incredibles. It tells the story of the new Incredibles movie and the old Incredibles movie. That’s very much our focus. But you are absolutely right in saying that Pixar loves their self-referential Easter eggs. I’ll just say, LEGO games like self-referential Easter eggs as well. I’ll leave it at that.”

LEGO The Incredibles will be released on June 15th, 2018 for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
