Nintendo has revealed its plans for the upcoming E3 2018, with most of the focus directed to the highly-anticipated Super Smash Bros for the Nintendo Switch. The company’s schedule for E3 2018 includes several events such as previously-announced tournaments and a video presentation. The most exciting planned activity would have to be the three days of Nintendo Switch gameplay, which will be shown live.
The Nintendo of America Twitter account posted a picture showing the schedule of Nintendo’s E3 2018 plans earlier today. The company’s plans for E3 2018 starts with the Splatoon 2 World Championship tournament, with opening rounds commencing on June 11th, 2018. The finals will held on June 12th, 2018. It’s the first global tournament to feature Splatoon 2, with four teams from around the world set to participate in the competition.
The Super Smash Bros Invitational 2018 will begin immediately after the Splatoon 2 World Championship ends on June 12th, 2018. We reported earlier in February that the tournament will emulate the structure of E3 2014’s Super Smash Bros invitational tourney, according to Nintendo Senior Product Marketing Manager Bill Trinen. During that tournament, prominent players played the then-unreleased version of the game on the Wii U.
The video presentation will start at 9 am Pacific Time on June 12th, 2018. It will provide us a look at some of the Nintendo Switch’s upcoming games to be released in the rest of 2018. Last year’s presentation shined the spotlight on Super Mario Odyssey while Super Smash Bros is set to become the center of attention this year.
Fans will probably look forward to the Nintendo Treehouse Live the most, where live footage of gameplay from some Nintendo Switch titles will be shown over three days alongside Nintendo Treehouse members and developers. It will begin right after the video presentation, kicking off with the unveiling of Super Smash Bros gameplay for the first time ever.
More information and details will probably be revealed regarding Nintendo’s E3 2018 plans as we get closer to E3 2018. In other related news, Nintendo is currently on a roll as the company recently appointed a new president in the face of its best-projected profits in eight years. The Nintendo Switch has also been doing great sales-wise, reaching 17 million units sold to date.
