Final Fantasy XI Mobile Reboot Gets New Screenshots

Thanks to a job posting on Nexon, the Final Fantasy XI mobile reboot has gotten a few new screenshots that’ll leave fans excited for the mobile release hungry for more. Admittedly, this may not seem like a lot of people, especially if you look at comments through newer articles and see that some fans are very vocal about their displeasure of the game coming to mobile.

This doesn’t strike us as particularly surprising. Mobile gaming still isn’t given the same amount of respect as its console and PC counterparts, with more than a few believing that mobile gaming isn’t a form of gaming at all. Regardless of how you may feel about that attitude, the game being rebooted on mobile has left some wondering why Final Fantasy XI was never put on the PS Vita instead.

Nonetheless, fans of the title do have their reasons to be excited, especially looking at some of the newer screenshots revealed. And while not much is known about how the game will differ, if at all, from the original game, what we do know looks to be exciting.

The game is said to run the mobile version of Unreal Engine 4 and promises to leverage “Final Fantasy XI‘s compelling storyline, engaging content and impressive graphics while optimizing features for smartphone and mobile devices to create an immersive, responsive and dynamic experience for mobile users.”

These optimizations are said (via Gematsu) to help with “improving party organizing systems, enriching solo-play functionality, improving battle functionality and enhancing in-game events and features.”

We can’t help but feel that despite all of these fantastic features, there is a catch to all of this. Nonetheless, we are willing to give the reboot a chance and are eager to see if the mobile game will provide us with that Final Fantasy goodness, or will leave us running to our nearest copy of our favorite Final Fantasy game and sobbing loudly into it.
