Final Fantasy XIV PS3 Playable Soon; Beta Codes To Be Honored

Those who purchased Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3 around launch received a promotional code to partake in Final Fantasy XIV's console beta test. That was back in 2010, so the hopes and dreams of console-bound MMO and Final Fantasy fans were shattered long ago.

In this case the story refuses to have a sad ending, and hope is in sight. According to Ben Bateman, Square Enix's Online Content Prouducer, the company is planning to run the ever-elusive FFXIV console beta test very soon, and the FFXIII codes will still be honored.

We haven’t yet started talking about our BETA plans in detail, but yes, we do fully intend to honour the promotion we ran with XIII for beta codes.

By now many have forgotten that they signed up for the beta, but if FFXIV: A Realm Reborn is as good as it looks, they should remember in no time at all. Remember, version 2.0 of FFXIV is only months from releasing, and soon we'll either be shaking our heads as Square Enix implodes or be absolutely shocked that it was able to salvage such a mess. Hopefully it's the latter, because I have $80 invested in the Collector's Edition.

Stay tuned for official dates for both beta testing and international release.
