Fans pretty much already knew that The Division 2 was a sure thing, but during the financial conference call related to the fiscal years of 2017-18, Ubisoft’s Chief Financial Officer Alain Martinez talked about the company’s release pipeline in the current fiscal year. This led to a rather interesting revelation on Ubisoft’s part.
According to Ubisoft, they have three AAA games coming out this fiscal year, which are The Crew 2 (said to release on June 29th), Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, and another mysterious, unannounced AAA franchise. This means that The Division 2, as well as the unannounced franchise, will be released sometime before March 31st, 2019.
We already are aware that The Division 2 will be unveiled at E3, which is more than enough reason for us to get excited. However, we also have reason to believe that the unannounced franchise will be revealed in Los Angeles next month as well. Which, in our opinion, gives us all ample time to speculate on what the franchise could be.
What’s more, Martinez explained that going forward we can expect three to four AAA titles a year from the publisher. No doubt this will make a few fans worry for a number of reasons, quality, and the dreaded crunch only to name a few of them. On the other hand, four AAA titles from Ubisoft a year doesn’t seem like a bad idea when you say it aloud, though your wallet might disagree.
Incidentally, Ubisoft also expects to sell near nineteen million units summing up all three games, so we’re expecting great things from them in the future and an even better E3 showing of these games that will tempt us into spending our cold, hard cash.
But what do you think, do you have any ideas on what the newest franchise could be from Ubisoft? Or is there something you want to see them do? Let us know in the comments below.
