3DS XL sales outside of Japan aren't quite as high as Nintendo hoped they would be. While I'm sure much of that can be attributed to the rising popularity of smartphone gaming, I'm sure another attributing factor is color availability. I mean, seriously, even if you weren't particularly interested in any of the games for the system, how could you possibly resist purchasing this sweet new Charizard-styled version?
That's right, the sleek black Charizard-adorned 3DS you see above is very real and will be made available to Japanese gamers, leaving those of us outside the region crying into our pillows. This isn't the first time Nintendo and the Pokémon company have done this to us, having released a similar Pikachu-styled handheld earlier this year.
However, it looks like these bad boys are going to be incredibly rare, as consumers will have to win a lottery for the opportunity to buy the device. Yes, you heard me right: Lucky winners get to pay money for a product. Somehow this makes the whole thing just a bit easier to swallow.
