Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation Introduces Non-Consensual Stripping

Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation is purpose-built for titillation, and while there’s a place for everything in video games, its recently revealed stripping mini-game takes it up a notch. Basically tasking players with yanking on the clothes of the game’s characters, this new update to Venus Vacation lets you lift up their skirts, pull on their bikini tops, and watch as they try to prevent you from doing so.

The game’s update 01.29.00 introduces the NSFW feature, with a new trailer showing a player using a pervy hand cursor in order to tug on a character’s clothes. The clothing awkwardly sticks to her in order to prevent any major wardrobe malfunctions, as she scrabbles around to try to stop the cursor from grabbing at her. Seeing a stripping mini-game in Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation isn’t exactly surprising, though making the characters appear firmly not into it is certainly a strange design decision.

This new feature has been named “appetizer,” as if this whole thing wasn’t pervy enough, and players can upgrade costumes for each character in order to introduce more “appetizers.” The first appetizer is limited to the first costume, named “Appetizer Pinchos.”

While Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation has introduced this odd new feature, Dead or Alive 6 is veering in a different direction. Recently, the game’s director Yohei Shimbori expressed how the fighting game’s developers were toning down the “sexiness.” Stating that they no longer wanted people to feel “embarrassed” while playing Dead or Alive, in DoA 6 the female fighters were no longer be as over-sexualized as they have in previous years, with their costumes being more practical this time around. While Shimbori conceded that the game’s “breast physics” would return, they’ve reportedly been scaled back since Dead or Alive 5, and its scantily-clad fighters are no longer at the forefront of the game’s presentation.
