GTA Online Nightclub Update Has Champagne Worth $150,000

Fancy a glass of virtual bubbly? Well, you best be prepared to fork over some mega cash, because GTA Online champagne costs a whopping $150,000. As part of the game’s After Hours nightclub update, Rockstar has seen fit to introduce a new lavish item to Los Santos, with a bottle of Blêuter’d Champagne Diamond setting players back a healthy amount of dough if they want to take a sip.

GTA Online, Rockstar’s GTA 5 multiplayer offering, has routinely been criticized for its overpriced in-game items and microtransaction-heavy economy. However, that hasn’t stopped players from investing in the game in their droves. This new bottle of champagne represents one of GTA Online’s most extravagant additions yet, allowing players to “enjoy” the virtual alcohol for $150,000.

So how does that translate into real-world money? Well, currency can be bought using Shark Cards, with a $4.99 Tiger Shark card netting the player $200,000 in-game. A Red Shark card is worth $100,000 for $3.99, so the champagne sits in the middle at $4. That’s a pretty steep asking price for a bottle of champagne that doesn’t even exist.

This not only makes it more expensive than many of the game’s cars, which at least contribute to the experience of playing GTA Online by allowing players to drive the fastest, prettiest vehicles on the market, but it’s also more expensive than a glass of booze in the real world. In the US, the average cost of a beer is $3.70 — as such, we’d recommend taking yourself out to a bar and doing that instead, perhaps to wash away the memory of that time you were going to spend four bucks on a virtual bottle of champagne.

If you really want to buy a bottle of pricey GTA Online champagne, then Blêuter’d Champagne also comes in Gold and Silver forms for $50,000 or $30,000 respectively. We’re not quite sure why you’d want to do that, but the option is there if you want to be the flashier player in Los Santos’s online world.

The GTA Online After Hours update introduced a bunch of new changes to the game, including a Nightclub Warehouse and Nightclub Management. If you want to read a full rundown of the new features introduced in After hours, click right here.
