Pokemon Go PvP Is Coming Soon, According to Niantic

Fans have been clamoring to fight each other in Pokemon Go since its launch in 2016 and now that feature may be coming over two years later. Niantic has confirmed that PvP is indeed planned to be in Pokemon Go by the end of the year. Anne Beuttenmüller, head of product marketing in the EMEA region for the developer confirmed the news with the Polish publication Gram.

In an interview, she stated (via Google translate) that the company is “working on the PvP mode, which will soon appear.” She also explained how the company is working on improving the game such as adding notes to specific friends to remember who is who. Beuttenmüller talked a little more about the PvP mode’s arrival while explaining Niantic’s rough roadmap for the game.

“We are constantly improving the elements that we have available in the game and the next thing that we want to add at the end of this year is the PvP mode,” she said.

This has had both a positive and negative reaction within the Pokemon Go community. On one hand, many are saying this will be a great addition to the game, bringing it closer to the core series’ gameplay. However, some others are arguing that it will be a poor addition to the game. One Reddit user has even explained that PvP in the mobile game will be “just who can tap the screen the fastest with the pokemon [sic] that has a higher number.” Either way, we will all have to wait and see how PvP will pan out for Pokemon Go.

Are you excited about the prospect of fighting your friends on the go with your phone? Or do you think it will be who can tap the fastest and has the best stats? Sound off in the comments below.
