New Sonic Game for Project Cafe Being Announced at E3?

The new issue of Nintendo Power may have spilt the beans on a new Sonic the Hedgehog game being announced at E3. In the current issue there's a teaser for an article about Sonic's 20th anniversary in the next issue that promises news that fans of the blue blur will not want to miss.

This leaves one to ponder on what the announcement could possibly be. This will be the issue that hits newsstands during E3 and Nintendo has already stated that they'll be announcing a new home console. Could this Sonic news possibly be about a launch title for the new system? Or will this be news of a 3DS title for the series?

I'm banking on 3DS, because I prefer side-scrolling, old-school hedgehog action to 3rd-person, running-into-walls-alot action. Also, I'd like to mention that as someone who grew up during the Super Nintendo/SEGA console wars that I find it completely surreal that Nintendo Power is making announcements for Sonic games at all. Oh, the times, they are a-changing.
