The latest UK charts have shown that the Forza Horizon 4 sales have been very impressive. So much so, that Forza Horizon 4 is now officially the fastest-selling entry in the Forza Horizon series to date in the UK. Despite this, however, it did fail to oust either Assassin’s Creed Odyssey or FIFA 19 in the top spots.
Forza Horizon 4 sales in the UK saw the game enter into the UK charts at number three. While it couldn’t take the top spots off of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey or FIFA 19, Forza Horizon 4 performed better than any game in the series to date. This is the opposite of what has happened in the UK with FIFA 19 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Both of these titles have seen lesser sales than their predecessors. Odyssey’s sales, for example, are down by 26% compared to Assassin’s Creed Origins. FIFA 19, too, is down in physical sales compared to its predecessor.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.Biz, Harvey Eagel, Xbox UK director, confirmed that Forza Horizon 4 has sold faster than any other Horizon game to date in the UK, just in terms of physical sales. “We’re thrilled that Forza Horizon 4 has been so well received by gamers across the UK.” Part of the thinking behind why the game has sold so quickly is in its setting. Forza Horizon 4 is set in the UK, with open roads across England and Scotland for players to drive through. “Set in beautiful, historic Britain and made by British studio Playground Games, Forza Horizon 4 is the fastest-ever selling game of the Forza Horizon series in the UK according to the latest GfK data.”
Alongside the upturn in sales for Forza Horizon 4, Microsoft has also seen “a huge uplift in Xbox Game Pass subscriptions and engagement.” Eagle argues that “these achievements are a testament to the craft and ambition of the latest release of the Forza franchise, the world’s biggest racing IP.”
