Research Group Believes Next-Gen Xbox And PlayStation Will Cost $400, Announcement For Both Before E3

According to the professional opinion of research group Baird Equity, the next-generation PlayStation and Xbox will cost $400. Those who purchased an Xbox 360 back when the system first launched will recall that this is in line with what Microsoft did in 2005, with the higher end model topping out at $399.

The PlayStation 3 on the other hand, was a completely different story, but Baird Equity believes that Sony has learned their lesson this time around and won't price their next console over $400. I think I speak for everyone when I say that I really hope they are right.

The research group also believes that both consoles will launch by year's end (PlayStation in October and Microsoft in November), and that both will unveil their new systems sometime before E3.

Does all this sound reasonable to you? How much would you be willing to pay for a next-gen PlayStation or Xbox at launch? Let us know in the comments below.
