It looks like Joker and Harley Quinn skins are coming to PUBG soon. A new trailer released by the PUBG Corporation showcases the two fighting inside of a prison. These are the Suicide Squad versions of Joker and Harley, so whether or not this is an early tie-in with an upcoming sequel or a late tie-in with the 2016 movie is unknown. A sequel to Suicide Squad, appropriately named Suicide Squad 2, was announced in 2017 and is being written by Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn.
The prison in the trailer looks like it may be the same one situated in the PUBG desert level Miramar, but it’s possible that it could be a newly created setpiece. As for Joker and Harley’s implementation in PUBG, no other details were released. Their appearance could be part of an all-new mode centering around a prison break, or the scenery could have just been chosen for its link with the early scene in the Suicide Squad movie in which the anti-heroes are recruited at Belle Reve Special Security Barracks by Amanda Waller.

It would be interesting if the PUBG Harley and Joker skins were used in a unique implementation of Duos. Maybe it could be a 2-vs-98 mode where Joker and Harley get access to some special abilities or weapons to help them take down 98 other players. The “live on and play” that is part of the Tweet and description announcing the two may be a hint for what’s coming, but we don’t have much else to go on.
These kind of collaborations are fun, and after the success of Fortnite‘s inclusion of Thanos, it was a good move on PUBG Corporation’s part to seek out their own superhero collaboration. There’s no release date yet for the Joker and Harley skins in PUBG, but given the announcement, I’d bet the PUBG x Suicide Squad crossover will appear sooner rather than later.
