Jump Force X018 Trailer Showcases Super Saiyan Dragon Ball Characters

A new Jump Force trailer was shown off at Microsoft’s X018 conference. The trailer showcased Dragon Ball characters going Super Saiyan, and Frieza’s golden form from Dragon Ball Super.

The new trailer sees Golden Frieza and Super Saiyan Blue Goku fighting on the game’s Paris stage. An official version of the trailer is not yet available, but it has been archived on YouTube. The trailer was narrated by a Bandai Namco representative, check it out below.

The X018 Jump Force trailer doesn’t reveal any new characters, but getting a look at different forms for Goku, Frieza, and Vegeta from Dragon Ball is sure to excite fans. The Super Saiyan “Awakening” transformation for the Dragon Ball characters unlock special moves and increased damage. Vegeta unleashes his Galick Gun special, while Goku shows off the classic Kamehameha. Golden Frieza’s stylish energy ball looks to eviscerate the scenery in the trailer.

The upcoming fighting game features characters from across Shonen Jump Weekly’s catalog of manga. Jump Force is being developed in celebration of the magazine’s 50th anniversary, and is set for release on February 15, 2019.

Characters from 10 different manga series have been announced so far. Bleach, City Hunter, Dragon Ball, Fist of the North Star, Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, One Piece, Saint Seiya, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Yu Yu Hakusho all have playable characters in the game. Famed Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama designed the game’s antagonist, Kane, who is also playable. Death Note‘s Light Yagami and Ryuk will also be appearing in the game.

Bandai Namco is attempting to design the game around a shared control scheme, so that players can pick up and play as each character easily. Mastery will hopefully have a high bar, and give the game an exciting pro-level scene. Arc System Works released Dragon Ball FighterZ earlier this year. The 2D fighting game was well received, and hopefully Bandai Namco takes the successes of that title to Jump Force.
