Saber Interactive had a great week last week based on World War Z sales. The cooperative zombie shooter topped the sales charts in the UK, beating out previous best seller Tom Clancy’s The Division 2.
Gamezindustry is reporting that World War Z topped the Association for UK Interactive Entertainment’s retail sales charts for the week ending in April 13. Previous chart topper the Division 2, on the other hand, dropped down by 32% from the previous week. This puts it at number three behind both World War Z and FIFA 19. The latter has held the number two slot for three weeks in a row now.
The news of World War Z topping charts in the UK comes after reports of the game’s stream viewership shrinking drastically. The game’s viewership on Twitch dropped by a massive 80% two days after its launch on the Epic Games Store. World War Z sales topping the UK charts may help soften the blow from this reduction in viewership for Saber and the game’s fans.
Aside from World War Z’s stunning debut displacing the Division 2, the rest of the UKIE’s sales chart has remained relatively stable. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remained at number four in the list. Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 moved down to number five, while Sekiro: Shadow’s Die Twice got pushed down by one slot to the number eight position. Both of these moved down in part due to World War Z‘s debut.
Only Assassin’s Creed Odyssey remained steady in sixth place, bolstered in part due to an Easter sale. By remaining in position, Yoshi’s Crafted World was pushed back from fifth position to seventh overall.
Snooker 19: The Official Video Game was the only other game to debut in the top ten of the UKIE’s charts. Its debut moves New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe down to tenth.
