At this point, holding out hope for quality third-party support on the Wii U is but a pipe dream. The system won't be getting Madden this year, and when the next wave of consoles rolls out in a few months' time, there's a good chance Nintendo's gaming box will be left in the dust.

Avalanche Studios, the team behind the Just Cause franchise has admitted that they too have not been working on anything for the Wii U. Studio founder Christofer Sundberg told Pressfire (via The Escapist) that because the install base is so small, they simply can't justify developing for the hardware.

“We actually had some development kits that just collected dust. It's a bit sad, because we wanted to do something. I think it is a cool platform, but right now it's not just up to us. We want the game to reach as many as possible,” he said.
