Say Hello To Pikmin 3’s New Characters: Alph, Brittany, And Charlie

We learned a little more about Pikmin 3 during this morning's Nintendo Direct, which detailed the game's new heroes. Instead of playing as series' mainstay protagonist, Captain Olimar, players will simultaneously control three new characters: Alph, Brittany, and Charlie.

The three crash land on a Pikmin-filled planet and decide to use the little creatures to help collect materials needed to save their home, Koppai. Aside from that, we don't really know too much about these characters, but something tells me their backstories aren't of particular importance. What I'm sure you will find a bit more interesting is the multitude of control options.

Players will be able to use the GamePad to navigate the map and micromanage everything with ease. You can opt to play Pikmin 3 with both the GamePad and TV, just the GamePad, or the Wiimote and TV.

Pikmin 3 launches on August 4th, exclusively for Wii U.
