Destiny 2 Shadowkeep release date leaked by Microsoft Store, pre-order bonuses revealed

The Destiny 2 Shadowkeep release date has been leaked by the Microsoft Store. Microsoft’s digital distribution service has slipped up and let us know the name of the next expansion to Destiny 2. What’s more, we’ve also learned that the next expansion in Bungie’s MMOFPS is going to be sending players to the moon — and it will be arriving before the end of the year.

Destiny 2 has been out for a few years now and the latest expansion was released in September of last year. The devs have been relatively quiet on what’s next, but it seems that they’re on pace for the next expansion to come out at roughly the same time: the Destiny 2 Shadowkeep release date has been revealed by the Microsoft Store as September 17, 2019.

Shadowkeep will be sending players to Earth’s moon in a brand-new adventure. Take a look at this short description captured from the Microsoft Store by TrueAchievements:

New nightmares have emerged from the shadows of our Moon. Called forth by haunting visions, Eris Morn has returned. Join her to slay these nightmares before they reach out beyond the Moon to cast humanity back into an age of darkness.

You’ll be able to purchase Destiny 2 Shadowkeep as a standalone item or bundled with the game itself, just as you could with previous expansions. Pre-orders are not yet live, but the (now removed) Microsoft Store page noted that players who pre-order the standard edition will receive a bonus Two-Tailed Fox Exotic Rocket Launcher and an exclusive Hive-themed Ornament. If you opt to pick up the Deluxe Pack, you’ll also get something called the “Digital Deluxe Set”:

Digital Deluxe items include:

• Four Season Passes*, each offering a unique set of exclusive Seasonal activities, artifacts, and rewards

• Exclusive Eris Morn themed items:

Exotic Emote

Exotic Ghost Shell

*Season Pass redeemed when logging in. If players already own the current Season Pass, they will receive credit toward future Seasons up until Season 11. Any credits beyond Season 11 will be exchanged for an equivalent value of Silver.

More details on Destiny 2 Shadowkeep are expected to be revealed today at 1:00 PM Eastern Time. You’ll be able to get your hands on this newest expansion in just a few months — the Destiny 2 Shadowkeep release date is September 17, 2019.
