Xbox One Not Designed To Stand Upright, “Intended To Sit Horizontally”

If you were hoping that the Xbox One would fit nicely alongside your television standing upright, you might want to rethink your setup strategy, as Microsoft has confirmed that the console was designed specifically to lay horizontally.

The company provided the following statement to IGN: “Designed as a premium entertainment system that is aesthetically at home in the living room, the console is intended to sit horizontally. Additionally, the airflow and venting system was optimized for this horizontal orientation.”

That said, I highly doubt the Xbox police will come knocking at your door if it is oriented in a vertical manner, but I'm willing to guess you may end up with a few over-heating problems should you choose to do so.

Do you typically stand your game consoles up vertically, or is horizontal the way to go? Let us know in the comments below.
