PlayStation 4 Is Region Free

The games above are just a few of those you can enjoy on PlayStation hardware, even if they weren't released in your region. While a minority for sure, there are a great number of gamers who enjoy the occasional import, and Sony's Shuhei Yoshida delivered some good news for them: The PS4 will be region-free. This continues the tradition set by the PSP, PS3, and PS Vita, all of which have region-free software. Nintendo had region-free handhelds until the 3DS, and the Xbox One is confirmed to make use of region locks. This seems to leave Sony all by itself on this.

You know that I'm passionate about this, so if any Game Revolution readers want to give a Japanese import a try, give this guide to Japanese game importing a read some time, and then shoot me an email. I will help the crap out of you. I get emails about it weekly, and I answer every one.

This will also help European gamers, who sometimes get shafted with very late releases (or no release at all) compared to North America. Heck, even Japan got overlooked for Remember Me, so I need to import it.

Tune in throughout the day and all week for more E3 news and views.
