Miyamoto “Wanted To Go HD Sooner” With Wii

Nintendo has been behind the technological curve ever since it launched the Wii back in 2006, but that wasn't Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto's choice.

In an interview with 4Gamer (translated by KameDaniRyuu) Miyamoto "wanted to go HD sooner." So why then did Nintendo decide to stick with an SD console? Apparently the company believed "it was going to take some time for HD televisions to become common." Instead, "HD became more common about 2 to 3 years earlier than we had anticipated."

It makes you wonder, doesn't it? Where do you think Nintendo would be right now if the company made the Wii a high-definition console instead? Would it still have been as successful to the mass market if it had a higher price tag? Would we even have something like the Wii U today? Feel free to speculate in the comments below.
