The new Uncharted movie director is set to be Travis Knight, according to a new report. Following the exit of previous director Dan Trachtenberg, Sony Pictures is in negotiations with Knight to direct the film adaptation of Naughty Dog’s acclaimed Uncharted series.
The Uncharted movie is set to enter production early next year, after a turbulent series of setbacks. Shawn Levy stepped down from the project in late 2018, with Trachtenberg following suit in August 2019.

According to Deadline, Spider-Man star and Uncharted’s leading man Tom Holland was an active part of the negotiations to bring Knight aboard. Knight is the director of the successful 2018 Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, and he also directed Kubo and the Two Strings, having forged a career as animator in movies such as Coraline, The Boxtrolls and ParaNorman. Judging by his work on Bumblebee, Knight seems like a good fit to the position of Uncharted movie director, so let’s hope that the third time’s the charm.
The Uncharted movie will follow the story of a young Nathan Drake, acting as a prequel to the successful PlayStation games. Holland will star as a young Nathan Drake, growing into the brave and reckless treasure hunter that players know and love. The Uncharted movie story will eventually show us how Drake got to meet Sully.
With the Naughty Dog video game series selling over 41 million units to date, an Uncharted movie has the potential to be a very successful prospect. The series’ amazing action stunts and globetrotting quests are the perfect pitch for an adventure movie in the vein of Indiana Jones.
Firefly’s leading man Nathan Fillion has campaigned several times to be a part of the Uncharted movie, his resemblance to Nathan Drake not to be discarded. His efforts didn’t go to waste, as Fillion starred in a great Uncharted short alongside Stephen Lang and Mircea Monroe.
