Gold Subscription Required For Skype And DVR Functionality On Xbox One

Microsoft has shed some additional light on the Xbox One's video recording and sharing service… well, at least what is required to access these features anyway. Just as I'm sure you all suspected, an Xbox Live Gold subscription will be necessary in order to take advantage of the console's DVR features.

In addition, Skype chat will require the premium membership as well. Again, no major surprise here, but at least there's no room for question or confusion anymore.

In case you didn't catch the news earlier this week, The Big M confirmed that the Xbox One will capture video in 720p at 30fps. Do you plan on taking advantage of this feature? Do you think requiring Xbox Live Gold is unfair to gamers? How about Skype functionality? Let us know in the comments below.
