Fallout 1st Reddit parody

Fallout 1st Reddit parody blasts Bethesda for $99 per year membership for Fallout 76

Fallout 1st Reddit parody has popped up in the wake of the launch of Fallout 76’s paid monthly subscription. Upset by the reveal of a Fallout 76 paid membership, one Redditor has purchased a domain and created a parody site mocking Bethesda Softworks’ newest product.

“Bethesda didn’t think to buy the domain. So I did!” said Redditor CountChappy in the r/Fallout submission, “If Bethesda was Honest – I stole their domain.” In this submission, he revealed that he purchased the domain falloutfirst.com (since backed up by the Wayback Machine and archive.is), mocking the official blog post that announced the launch of a subscription service for Fallout 76.

“Ever since Fallout 76 launched, we have consistently done nothing to improve and evolve the experience based on your s***ty feedback,” reads the Fallout 1st Reddit parody website. “That’s why we’re excited to launch Fallout F*** YOU 1st, a premium a** pounding membership that offers something dumba** players have been asking for since before launch: private worlds for you and select idio- *cough* … friends. So we decided to put it behind a paywall! In addition to this huge “feature”, Fallout F*** YOU 1st also includes a host of pointless items and cult bonuses, all of which you can find on my foreskin. And the best part? Fallout F*** YOU 1st is available to screw you right now.”

Criticism of the subscription service extends beyond this Fallout 1st Reddit parody site; suffice it to say, the franchise’s fans on r/Fallout are not taking this announcement well.

“For $99 a year, EA will let you play basically any game in their library, over 240 games, including new titles,” reads one comment on r/Fallout. “For $99 a year, Bethesda will let you have a private server in one game, Fallout 76, and you have to already own the game. They throw in a few other in game things, including putting the solution to players’ stash size complaints behind a paywall.”

“$12.99/month for a terrible Fallout 76 subscription,” begins another comment. “$9.99/month for Xbox Game Pass which includes Fallout 3, 4, recently New Vegas and soon to be The Outer Worlds[.] HMMMMM[.]”

While there are certainly some players who will see the value in a membership for Fallout 76, the Fallout 1st Reddit parody goes to show that not everyone is happy with this reveal. How Bethesda will respond to this criticism (if they decide to respond at all) remains to be seen.

These server costs may seem high, but are worth juxtaposing against the private server prices of other games. For example, private Battlefield 5 servers will cost $150 to have 180 days on PC ($100 for console). Server hosting site Nodecraft charges $5 to $20 per month for a select batch of PC games.
