Kinect No Longer Required To Play Xbox One

The folks over a Microsoft have yet another surprising bit of news to share with gamers. After backpedaling on the Xbox One's DRM policies, the company has also removed the need to have the Kinect plugged in at all times.

Speaking to IGN, Xbox Corporate VP Marc Whitten revealed the exciting news, saying that players will no longer need to have the Kinect plugged into the Xbox One in order to take advantage of its core features. However, gamers obviously won't get to enjoy the benefits of things like voice commands or player identification should the Kinect be detached.

Does this make an Xbox One purchase a bit easier to swallow? Perhaps Microsoft will end up revealing a model of the console without Kinect that can match the PS4's $399 price tag. It sure sounds plausible to me.
