Yoshida: Sony Not Ready To Step Out Of The Handheld Market

Despite the fact that the PlayStation Vita has been struggling to gain momentum, Sony hasn't given up on the handheld market just yet. With a price drop and the promise of connectivity with PS4, there may still be hope for the portable gaming device.

When asked whether or not the Vita will be the company's last handheld game machine, SCE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida told CVG:

Yeah I think we can still pursue it, and I don't think we have to make that decision now.

Also, the distinction between the portables and mobile is [blurring], because there are all kinds of hybrids, different form factors and operating systems can still be conceived, in terms of how we characterize portable and mobile. We still like PS Vita and we know people who buy it really like it.

Do you think Sony has a future in the handheld business? Should they focus on the smartphone market and leave dedicated handhelds to Nintendo? Sound off in the comments below with your thoughts.
