More Schools Offering Video Game Degrees, Highest Concentration In California

The ESA revealed the growing number of universities in the United States supporting degrees in video game related fields, but you're going to be left wondering how many new Public Relations graduates are heading into the industry.

In the release sent out today, the ESA says that 55 schools in the US offer associate's degrees, 226 offer bachelor's degrees, 46 offer master's degrees, and 4 offer Ph.D.'s, with students in these programs looking forward to careers in gaming's $21 billion industry.

The ESA also adds that aspiring developers can find the highest concentration of game-degree schools in California, but that anyone hoping to get a career in games can start their school search at the ESA's website.

ESA CEO Michael Gallagher said that "video games are the fastest growing, most dynamic form of entertainment in the world today," and George Mason University director Dr. Scott Martin said that "students study both the sciences and the arts, all in a revolving-role team-based, project-based new pedagogical environment that is revolutionizing curricula to better prepare our students for the workforce of today and tomorrow."

Sure, but can you give us the back-of-the-box version next time? That was a mouthful.
