Sony Scrapped PS4 Camera Pack-In To Get Console Price To $399

Just as many expected, Sony was originally planning to bundle the PlayStation 4's camera with every console, but opted out of doing so in order to get the price down to a competitive $399.

Speaking to Business Spectator, Sony's Andrew House explained why he believes the lack of a camera pack-in isn't much of an issue:

Certainly for the earlier part of the lifecycle, the vast majority of the audience that we speak to tells us that their primary wish is for the full controller interface and there's not necessarily a huge emphasis being placed on camera interaction.

Do you believe Sony made the right choice? Based on current consumer sentiment, I'd say so. I don't know many gamers excited about having to pay an extra $100 for an Xbox One with Kinect.
