New Assassin’s Creed IV Trailer Sheds Light On Edward Kenway’s Backstory

Living as a selfish, greedy pirate while adhering to the strict creed of the Assassin order will prove virtually impossible for Assassin's Creed IV's protagonist, Edward Kenway. As you may have suspected, this internal conflict will serve as a major part of the game's story. Just see for yourself in the trailer above.

According to Ubisoft's video description, "the year is 1715," a time when "pirates rule the Caribbean and have established their own lawless Republic where corruption, greediness and cruelty are commonplace." Enter Edward Kenway, a sea captain whose "fight for glory has earned him the respect of legends like Blackbeard, but also drawn him into the ancient war between Assassins and Templars, a war that may destroy everything the pirates have built."

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag launches on October 29th on Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. You'll have to wait until November to get it on Xbox One, PS4, or PC.
