Square Enix Adjusts Financial Forecast In Lieu Of FFXIV’s Surprising Success

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has managed to exceed the expectations of Square Enix, causing the publisher to adjust its financial forecast for the end of the year.

The original projection was set at ¥59 billion ($598 million), but has since been revised to ¥61.7 billion ($626 million). Not only that, but the company was initially expecting to incur an operating loss of ¥2 billion ($20 million), but instead expects to have an operating profit of ¥4.7 billion ($48 million).

The future looks promising for the publisher as well, with titles like Kingdom Hearts IIIFinal Fantasy XV, and Thief, as well as a new Hitman and Sleeping Dogs on the horizon.

Could Square Enix finally be making the comeback it so desperately needs? Is the Final Fantasy franchise back on the upswing toward JRPG greatness? As always, share your thoughts in the comments below.
