Ghosts Currently This Generation’s Lowest-Rated Call of Duty Game

Call of Duty: Ghosts launches today, bringing with it a torrent of reviews, most of which are quite positive, but not perhaps as glowing as they have been in the past for the franchise. In fact, according to Metacritic, it appears Ghosts is the lowest-rated title in the series this generation.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are currently rated 75, while the PlayStation 4 version is slightly higher at 78. While this is by no means a "bad" score, prior Call of Duty titles have traditionally earned scores in the 80s or 90s.

Is this a sign of a downward trend for the series? Are critics getting tired of the same age-old formula? Will more forward-thinking and innovative games like Titanfall and Destiny knock Activision's franchise of its lofty perch? Sound off in the comments below with your thoughts, and be sure to read our review of Ghosts right here.
