Nintendo Update Groups Folders Switch

Nintendo Switch 14.0.0 Update Adds Game Groups, Fans Rejoice

In the latest Nintendo Switch update 14.0.0 for the console, you can now sort games using groups, which are really folders by any other name. Nintendo fans are thrilled to see what is typically a ubiquitous feature in an operating system, but it’s easy to take them for granted if you don’t have access to make them.

How to create groups with Nintendo Switch update 14.0.0

Before you can use the group feature, you need to make sure that your Nintendo Switch console has been updated to at least version 14.0.0 or later. Then you need to access the All Software option from the Home menu.

In the All Software menu, you can sort all of the games you have purchased on the Nintendo Switch into groups; that is, so long as you have more than 12 software titles in your catalog. You can create up to 100 different groups with each group having a maximum of 200 titles, and you can put a title into multiple groups for easy sorting.

You can create groups with varying names as you see fit, and sort games within each grouping as well. In Nintendo’s example of the grouping feature, it suggests sorting games by franchise by making groups for Mario Games, Zelda Games, Pokemon, Online Games, and more.

But most of the users in the thread of the Twitter announcement have decided mainly to group items by completion, sorting games into whether they have been beaten, on the back catalog, or halfway finished. One fan pointed out that the Favorites folder in the example might be “the most based folder” because it includes Luigi’s Mansion 3, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, and Metroid Dread.

In other news, a new Witcher game has been revealed by CD Projekt Red out of nowhere, and the exploit that continues to take down the PvP servers for Dark Souls games on PC has been explained in fuller detail.
