Fans call out the price of Nintendo’s new Switch 2 Joy-cons

Fans have taken to X to express their disappointment with the asking price of Nintendo’s new Switch 2 Joy-Cons. Nintendo is launching its first set of alternate controllers. Much like the original Switch design, the Switch 2 also boasts of intricate designs, colors, and unique, game-themed Joy-Cons. However, fans aren’t thrilled with the new reveal.

Announced on January 8, the new Switch 2 Joy-Cons come in shades of purple for the left one and light blue for the right one. However, fans have noted that the new Switch 2 Joy-Cons bear a striking resemblance to the previous version. Notably, the Switch 2 Joy-Cons are priced at $99.99 and will be available from February 12. Fans have complained that the asking price is too high when there is barely any innovation in the design and colors. (via Dexerto).

X user Ninten Talk tweets, “Cool that Nintendo is releasing new colors for Joy-Con, but this is what most people will see.” “And they cost $100,” he added in his caption. Unsurprisingly, his tweet garnered 12K likes, 206 comments, 603 retweets, and 434 saves.

Fans chimed in the comments section, agreeing with Ninten Talk. A fan commented, “Nintendo trying to pretend like they weren’t known for family games, colors, and fun, and now we’re overfocused on price gouging, console monitoring, and PlayStation-style minimalism. Like get over yourself girl you’re for MARIO!!”

A second fan wrote, “$100 for Joy-Cons? Feels like a fever dream.” A third user shared sarcastically, “Like, for real, I’ll drop 100 if they can actually give something worth spending.” Finally, another user wrote, “Yeah. That’s a big error on them. Needs more graphic or color on them. Damn.”

Interestingly, even peripheral company Dbrand seized the opportunity to take a dig at Nintendo. They launched their own Joy-Con skins in the same shades of purple and light blue, which covered the entire device. They shared the post with the caption, “Don’t worry, we fixed it.”
